Leeds is a city that is swarming with art, and it’s not just confined to galleries and museums. In fact, art murals and street graffiti can be found hidden all around the city, adding a vibrant and colorful touch to the urban landscape. Whether you’re a long-time resident or a new visitor, there’s plenty of art to be seen and experienced. The beauty of these art murals is that they’re scattered throughout the city, so you can stumble upon them at any time, simply by taking a leisurely stroll through the streets!

Athena Rising

The impressive ‘Athena Rising’ art mural created by Nomad Clan towers at a height of 46 meters and is situated near Leeds train station. The artwork itself draws inspiration from the city of Leeds, it features two majestic owls, a moon and sacred geometric shapes in shades of grey and gold. The best place to view the mural is in the higher levels of Trinity Car Park.

Cornucopia

In 1990, Graeme Wilson, a resident of nearby Ilkley, painted an art mural dedicated to the Corn Exchange itself. It depicts references such as harvest and abundance, the mural also features architectural details, and classical features such as the Greek goddess of cornucopia.

Insa X Moniker

Breaking new grounds, this art mural was created with the goal of being a carbon-neutral and zero-waste production. The artists carefully considered every element of the process to minimise the negative impact on the planet. This art mural measures an impressive 13 meters high and 11 meters wide, and was painted with the worlds most certified green brand!

Washing Marine

One of the most remarkable examples of a mural painting in Leeds can be found at Brewery Wharf. Created in 2018 by Replete, an internationally recognised 3D graffiti street artist, this piece of street art is truly awe-inspiring. It depicts an old fashioned diver appearing to climb out of a washing machine that is positioned on its side, creating this stunning 3D effect that must be seen in person to fully be appreciated!

Paving The Way

As a native of Leeds, it's no surprise that we pay homage to our beloved Leeds United through striking art murals. One such mural is the "Paving the Way" artwork, which celebrates the football club's partnership with Roc Nation and honors its commitment to diversity. Created by the talented Akse P19, this mural features three iconic players who have made significant contributions to the team's history.
