As we’ve already mentioned, Wakefield is a close neighbour to the City of Leeds.  Just 10 miles outside of Leeds, Wakefield’s two train stations make it a breeze to commute into the nearby city.  Although Wakefield City Centre rivals that of a larger city in terms of amenities and transport links, the hidden gem of Wakefield is the vast amount of greenery right on its doorstep.  Wakefield is home to some of the most picturesque country parks, including the ever popular Pugneys Park. So whether you want a taste of the metropolitan city life or you prefer something more peaceful, Wakefield really does give you the best of both worlds.

2. Transport & Commute

Location leads nicely onto our next point of transportation. There are two main train stations in Wakefield; Kirkgate Station takes you to all your local destinations, whilst Westgate Station transports you a little further afield. Those of you making regular journeys to the big smoke will be able to do it with ease, with 30 direct services to Kings Cross running on weekdays from Wakefield. Wakefield’s impressive transport links doesn’t stop on the train line, the city sits at the crossroads of M1, M62 and A1 taking you far and wide.

According to Zoopla to current average value of a property in Wakefield stands at £212,000 whereas Leeds has a higher average of around £225,000. Depending on the area, you can get yourself a family home for far less than many areas of Leeds. Exclusive areas of Wakefield such as Walton come with a slightly higher price tag. Wakefield has a huge offering when it comes to amenities. For all your retail therapy needs the Trinity Walk and Ridings Shopping Centre will provide you with all the high street names. However, if you’re looking to shop local you also won’t be short of independent boutiques and businesses.

Last but not least - wining and dining. Although things may currently be a little different, Wakefields streets are usually filled with an abundance of restaurants, coffee shops and bars.  Diversity is something you can guarantee in Wakefield, whatever your taste buds are telling you, you will never be far away from a cuisine of your choice in Wakefield.
