Half Term Halloween Activities in Wakefield

We understand filling the children’s holidays with a schedule of activities can feel like a task in itself.
So we’ve made your life a little easier and taken a look at some of the fantastic family events going on around Wakefield this coming half term. With some spooky goings-on in Wakefield there are plenty of ways to keep the kids entertained, so gather the family and maybe some friends and give one of these Halloween inspired events a go this October.

Half term Halloween Crafts @ Anglers Country Park

Find your creative side at Half term Halloween crafts at Anglers Country Park this October. Whether your house needs a  Halloween inspired makeover or the kids need a little something extra for their trick or treat outfits, a Halloween bunting or wizards wand should cover it and Anglers Park Half term Halloweens craft is the place to make them!

Room on the Broom @ Anglers Country Park

Horsforth

If you haven’t already, you have to visit the Room on the Broom trail this half term. Launched in March in Anglers Country Park, The Room on the Broom trail has been a huge success and is thankfully here to stay.  The trail follows the tale of witches broom as you hunt for the 5 chainsaw carved characters whilst making your way through the picturesque park. Pick up your activity pack from the visitor's centre to start your adventure. With lots of different activities to keep you busy on the way, the trail will be a hit with all ages! The trail takes around an hour and a half to complete and is fully accessible for buggies and wheelchairs.

Half Term @ Wakefield Museum

As always, there is plenty going on a Wakefield Museum for the whole family to get involved in this half term. On the 28th October, you and the kids can transform into Pharaohs, with your own handmade headdress whilst learning all about Ancient Egypt. Or in keeping with the Egyptian theme, why not give sewing a try; learn simple sewing techniques to make your own soft toy in the shape of an ancient Egyptian cat! Once you’re done with crafting, take a wander around the museum to take a trip down memory in the history of Wakefield.

Halloween at the Pit @The National Coal Mining Museum

There is some spooky goings-on at The National Coal Mining Museum this half term and they need your help! Help Mary and Peggy in the hunt for clues to figure out these frightful happenings and solve the mystery of who is haunting the pit. To get into the spirit of things there will be face painting and crafts going on too. Be aware this event is tailored towards older children although younger children are welcome.

Nostell Halloween events @ Nostell National Trust

There is plenty going on at Nostell for half term. During the day time why not let your kids crunch through the autumn leaves on Mini Rangers Day, giving them a chance to turn nature into artwork.  On Monday 28th why not spare the mess in your own home and head to Pumpkin Carving for Kids event at Nostell, this lets them use stencils to create premium pumpkins for them to take home.  Or finally, why not try something a little different at Nostells evening event; The Campfire Halloween Tales. Sit around the campfire with a hot chocolate and baked potato, before listening to seasonal stories under the stars.

Pumpkin carving for kids – Monday 28th 1pm - 3pm / 3:30pm – 5pm
