1.    For all the fish and chip lovers Guiseley is home to the very best. After Harry Ramsdens opened their first branch there in 1928, it still stands today as the ever popular Wetherby Whaler.

2.    In keeping with the fish & chip theme, do you remember the much loved Sooty and Sweep? The man behind the famous puppets was often found playing the piano in Harry Ramsdens known to him as his uncle’s restaurant! Keeping it within the family his parents owned the much loved Midgleys fish and chips we still know and love today.

3.    Looking into Guiseleys history, one of the finest buildings in Guiseley St.Oswlads Church dates back to the 13th century! We’ve also got St. Oswalds to thank for Wuthering Heights being the place of marriage for Patrick Bronte and Maria Branwell, parents to authors Emily & Charlotte Bronte!

4.    If you’re from the Guiseley area you’ll most likely be a fan of Guiseley AFC or more commonly known ‘The Lions’. Did you know, the local football club was first established in 1909!

5.    The popular Guiseley Theatre was built in 1867 by public subscriptions from the residents of Guiseley. The theatre has been home to many shows and even some opera, but did you know during the war years the theatre was also used as a hospital, school, fire station and library amongst other things!
