Christmas is just around the corner, so what better time to support your local highstreet and shop in some of the independent shops we have here in our city of Leeds. Here are just a few of our favourites, we think you should try.
1. OK Comics
Having been nominated as one of the best comic retailers in the world by 2014 Comic-Con international, OK Comics is a fantastic independent comic book shop, which sells classic comics, graphic novels and manga. An essential stop for anyone interested in superheroes!
2. The Great Yorkshire Shop
The Great Yorkshire Shop sells... you guessed it... a range of fantastic products made by Yorkshire folks or products with a Yorkshire connection. Their Yorkshire Rose cushions, Yorkshire Lad mugs are a perfect gift for any Yorkshire folks this Christmas!
3. The Cave
Since opening their doors in February of this year, The Cave has been capturing people's attention all over Leeds and beyond. They specialise in unique and quirky homewares. From vintage style storage to statement animal busts, each of their products is just as unusual as the one before!
4. Summer House
Found in the Corn Exchange, Summer House offers a unique product range of locally made giftware. With individually designed cards, beautiful jewellery and a plethora of interesting items, it's well worth a visit and there are gifting options for all ages and interests.
5. Chirpy
Found in Chapel Allerton, one of Leeds most happening areas, Chirpy was established in 2012, and has since become one of the premier independent shops in Leeds, with a big reputation and a carefully crafted product range to boot. Describing themselves as an independent lifestyle design store, they stock a range of unique home accessories and goods with personality and style.
6. Little Leeds Beer House
Since opening in May 2015 in the Corn Exchange, the Little Leeds Beer House has become something of a landmark destination for beer lovers in Leeds. With a diverse offering of some of the best beers from across Yorkshire and beyond, this is a relative Wonka Factory of Beer!
7. Jumbo Records
Since opening, Jumbo Records has become the go to shop for music lovers. Selling an enormous selection of vinyl records, ranging from the well-known to the obscure, they also sell CDs and gig tickets. They offer coffee and live music to complement your visit... making it a great shopping experience.
8. Our Handmade Collective
Selling the wares of over seventy designers, found in the Grand Arcade, their product range is about as eclectic as it comes, a must visit for anyone looking for a unique option.
