Exciting Activities in Leeds for February Half-Term 2025
February half-term is fast approaching, to help, we’ve put together a list of some of the best activities happening around Leeds to keep the kids entertained during the break. From interactive museums to thrilling roller-skating sessions, there’s something for everyone!
Leeds Industrial Museum – Creativity and Cinema
Why not head over to Leeds Industrial Museum this February half-term? Here, you can discover the science and industry that shaped Leeds. From 11am to 2pm on the 18th to the 20th, they are holding drop-in printing workshops. These workshops allow children to explore different materials and textiles while creating something special to take home.
Once you’ve finished exploring your creative side, why not relax at their Mystery Matinees? Leeds Industrial Museum is home to the smallest cinema in the North of England, with only 26 seats! They will be showing a family favourite film every day of the school holidays at 2pm. Best of all, both of these activities are included in the admission ticket.
M&S Archive – A Fun, Free Experience
If you find yourself near the University of Leeds, drop into the M&S Archive. The archive is free to explore and is open Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm. It celebrates the role M&S has played in people’s lives since 1884, showcasing over 72,000 items, from the Founders’ notebooks to yesterday’s best-sellers. There's lots to keep the kids entertained with a shop to play in, vintage clothes to dress up in and lots of opportunities to be creative!Over half-term, the archive is providing free refreshments and has even created a special kids’ exhibition trail. Once completed, each child can claim a free pack of Percy Piglets!
Leeds Storytelling Festival – A Literary Adventure
Leeds Libraries are proud to present the brand-new Leeds Storytelling Festival, running from 15th February - 8th March. Throughout the festival, you can participate in a range of activities, including:
- Award-winning family theatre
- Acclaimed author readings
- Costume-making workshops
- A city-wide trail dedicated to historical heroines

Leeds Markets – Roller Skating and Crafts
Leeds Markets are offering their first family-friendly event of 2025 with free drop-in Roller Rink sessions in partnership with LS-Ten. These will take place on the 18th, 19th, and 20th February between 11am and 4pm in the Leeds Kirkgate Market food hall. Skates and safety equipment will be provided.
Not into roller skating? Don’t worry! The market will also have free crafts, Lego, and Duplo tables running all week long, from 17th - 21st February between 11am and 4pm. Drop in anytime and let your creative mind flow!
Thackray Museum of Medicine – Fascinating Science Fun
Looking for something a little different this half-term? Thackray Museum of Medicine is the perfect spot. Alongside learning about the past, present, and future of healthcare and medicine, there are a range of interactive activities focused on blood:
- Thackray Science Live – A whizz-bang science show exploring the basics of blood (suitable for the whole family).
- Tote-Bag Making – Get creative and make your own bag to take home.
- Interactive Play Trail – Perfect for under-5s.
- Real-Life Heart Dissection – If you have a budding surgeon in the family, children over 10 years old can participate in a real heart dissection with medical experts. Not for the squeamish!
