Bronte Waterfall
Bronte Waterfall is delicate, pretty and quintessentially British. Famously associated with the Bronte Sisters, Bronte Waterfall is a hidden gem within the picturesque South Pennine Hills. The walk is along well-marked paths, across moorlands and carpets of heather, approximately a 5.8km round loop. With several kissing gates and an adventure across the Bronte Bridge, Bronte Waterfall is a great day out. The quaint village of Howarth, is located just 2.9 miles from the waterfall and is filled with great local shops, cafes and pubs. So, if you fancy a cold pint or some warming food you won’t be disappointed staying local!
Aysgarth Falls
Surrounded by forest green and woodland, Aysgarth Falls is a spectacular 3-tier waterfall, an iconic statement within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Delivering beautiful views and a tranquil setting, the falls is not one to be missed. The walk is a 2.5-mile loop that showcases the falls in all its glory. With a local pub marking the halfway point, and distant views of Castle Bolton at the finish, it is truly perfect for a relaxing, but an adventure-filled day.
Malham Cove
“EXPELLIARMUS!” ... This crowd favourite walk is known for its part in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. So, if you love visiting film locations, Malham Cove is up there with one of the best. However, what makes this location even more interesting is the beautiful feature wall of ancient limestone that has stood proudly for over 12,000 years. Dating back to the Mesolithic era, this remarkable place is still enjoyed by many and is a must-visit in Yorkshire.
Ilkley Cow and Calf
Steeped in history, the Cow and Calf stands in the silhouette of the Ilkley Moors. Just a short walk to the top of the rocks, you can witness the sublime view of the Wharfedale valley, which showcases itself modestly in front of you. Whether you choose to clamber on the rocks, or relax with a sit-down picnic, it is a peaceful spot. Wanting a browse after? Why not head into the local town of Ilkley to look around some great shops and enjoy a well-deserved warm brew!
Pen-y-ghent
If you fancy a bit more of an outdoor challenge? Pen-y-ghent is the perfect place to give you this. The circular walk to the summit is just under 6 miles long and is one of the magnificent three peaks. The walk from the local village in Horton is a great approach, showcasing the local amenities and views from start to finish. While it may not be the tallest mountain in the Dales, it outshines the others with its unique name and impressive reputation. It truly is a must-do!
