2024 Community Round Up
Community engagement is an integral part of our business, reflecting one of our core values. In 2024 we took great pride in supporting over 160 local events, charities, schools and organisations. Our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve is always a big focus for our teams.
We support a variety of different projects and events across our community fund, all to support vital local causes in our communities. Here is a list of some of our favourite community initiatives we’ve supported over the last 12 months.
Team Sponsors
We’ve had the privilege of sponsoring 22 local teams this year. For some, this partnership spans several years, while others joined our community in 2024. Our teams have loved getting involved, attending training sessions and matches to meet the players wearing their new kits.
Park View Primary Academy Friendship Sign
In April, students from Park View Primary Academy contacted us about their “Friendship Pals” initiative. They envisioned a Friendship Sign for their playground, a safe space for children feeling lonely to find companionship. Our Beeston branch were thrilled to make this idea a reality by donating the sign and ensuring no child has to play alone.
Water Bottles for Abbey Grange
In September, Emily from Abbey Grange reached out with a heartfelt concern. During a school trip, she noticed that students on free school meals opted for water instead of cake because they lacked reusable water bottles. Touched by this, Sarah from our Horsforth branch stepped up, arranging for 200 reusable bottles to be delivered to the school. Now the students on free school meals all have their own water bottle so they won’t have to choose again.
Supporting Leeds Dads
Leeds Dads is a volunteer-run organisation with the aim of helping fathers with social interactions and support. Their free events are vital for many families, but rising costs threatened some of their activities. To help, our Oakwood and Beeston branches funded their breakfast club and soft play sessions for three months.
Leeds Pride Sponsorship
This year, we were honoured to sponsor the family area at Leeds Pride. People from all areas of the business joined in, walking in the parade and celebrating inclusivity. We then continued the celebrations in the family area with our array of games, colouring sheets and prizes. Overall, it was a fantastic day, and it was brilliant to see so many people.
School Fairs
Over the past year, we supported 35 school fairs, ranging from summer fairs and festivals to Christmas bazaars. Our contributions included raffle prizes, advertising boards, and monetary donations towards their fundraisers. These events are critical fundraisers for schools and this year our support has enabled them to invest in new books, playground equipment, and other essential resources.
A Year of Making a Difference
It is always a pleasure to support the communities that have made us the business we are today. As we look ahead to 2025, we are excited to continue our support within our communities and see what the future brings.
