Golden Acre Park

With 179 acres of gardens and woodlands to explore, this is a perfect place for a family day out. During Spring and Autumn, Golden Acre Park comes alive with natures vibrant colours and the park is home to wild birds, squirrels, and rabbits. If you’re a keen bird watcher, this is the place to come and spot some of the native birds such as ducks, geese, swans, and herons.

There are plenty of paths for cycling, which makes it a great place to teach little ones how to ride a bike! Ball games are welcome on the grassed areas too. Finish the day with a walk over to their onsite café which has a lovely patio area to relax on and admire the scenery.

None Go Bye Farm

If you are an animal lover head down to None Go Bye Farm! They have a variety of animals to see such as: donkeys, llamas, Shetland ponies, rabbits, pigs, alpacas and more. Buy a bag of feed for just £1 and get up close and personal with them. However, it’s not just animals at this farm! They have an enclosed field specifically for dog walking which has obstacles, tunnels, and long grass. It’s a great place to spend time with your furry friend.

There is a great indoor play area for the kids to also enjoy, located inside just next to the farm shop and has plenty of seating for adults. Stop by the farm shop to pick up some local and None Go Bye’s own meats and lots of other goodies!

Bedquilts Recreation Ground

Situated in the heart of Adel is this large playing field, which is perfect for sports picnics or walking the dog. It’s a popular spot for an evening walk, run or kickabout. If you are wanting to try a new sport like softball, this is the place to come as Leeds Softball Association meet every Tuesday in the summer to practice.

Adel Woods

Between Adel and Alwoodley you will find this picturesque woodland which spans up to 175 acres. Adel Woods appears to be a secret escape of the people of Leeds as it is relatively unknown to the wider city population. If you are a keen walker, make sure to be prepared before heading into these woods as it’s not particularly well signposted! There is a great spot called ‘Eagle Rock’ for those who are into a bit more of an adrenaline rush such as rock climbing. Free parking is available just off Stairfoot Lane (LS16 8DR).

The Brownlee Centre

This is the UK’s first purpose-built triathlon centre and is a permanent home for the world-leading Leeds Triathlon Centre. It is named after the inspirational Brownlee Brothers who have competed and won many awards over the years. Alongside cycling and triathlon facilities, there are other sports pitches which are regularly used by students who are members of affiliated sports clubs. You can also hire the space for corporate events such as team building days and large meetings.

Crag House Farm

Crag House Farm has a variety of different things to do and choose from visiting the farm shop to the garden nurseries or pop to the Grab & Go takeaway. The Granary Restaurant serves a wide range of different meals including hearty full English breakfasts, light lunches and their famous afternoon tea. The farm shop also has a deli counter which sells luxury cheeses, locally sourced meats and delicious bakes which have been made in the Granary kitchen. If you are looking for something for the kids, it also has a fantastic children’s playground for them to enjoy.
