Things To Do
There are a number of things to do whilst in the Moortown area. Transport
Moortown is a short 4.5-mile distance from Leeds City Centre by car. Although there is no train station in Moortown there are plenty of bus routes offering links to Ripon, Harrogate, Leeds and neighbouring suburbs. Moortown is only a 15-minute drive from Leeds Bradford International Airport and easy access to the Ring Road makes for efficient travel for commuters.
History
Moortown Corner is the junction situated between Street Lane and Harrogate Road, the building known as the Corner House was built in 1938 and was originally a ballroom and restaurant before becoming a casino in 1968 and nowadays is home to a range of shops.
Eating & Drinking
With Street Lane on the doorstep, bars and restaurants in the area are not in short supply. Head to the Corner House Coffee Bar and Kitchen for coffees, craft beers or cocktails to accompany one of their freshly cooked dishes. On Gledhow Valley Road you’ll find El Bareto, the perfect venue for a taste of tapas in an authentic and friendly atmosphere. If you’re looking for places for a drink, Street Lane is full of bars and restaurants including the ever-popular Banyan.
Shopping
For all your grocery needs, there is both a large Sainsburys and Marks and Spencer Simply Food within Moortown itself. Down the road in Meanwood, you will also find both an Aldi and Waitrose. Moortown is home to a mixture of amenities including charity shops, convenience stores, banks and independent businesses.
