Kippax is a village and civil Parish in the City of Leeds Metropolitan Borough in West Yorkshire. Formerly a coal mining village, it is now more known as a commuter village and is growing increasingly popular with home buyers due to its location, transport links and amenities.

There is plenty to do in and around Kippax, especially for kids and those that want to get active. Kippax has a leisure centre where you can swim, have a game of indoor football or badminton! Kippax is also home to some lovely woodland walks including Kippax Meadow Nature Reserve and the former coal mining train line between Garforth and Castleford. Kippax is conveniently located for easy access to Leeds and surrounding towns and is currently known as a commuter village. Its proximity to motorways connecting residents to Leeds, Castleford, London, Wakefield and York has made Kippax an increasingly popular place to live. Kippax has a train station which can connect you to Leeds in 12 minutes, there are also busses directly from Castleford to Leeds and surrounding areas
History
Kippax became a typical northern mining community in the 19th Century. Exploitation of the coal led to a railway being built between Garforth and Castleford in 1873. The single line had two intermediate stations at Kippax and Ledston. It was closed to passengers in 1951. Where the line once was is now a popular walking route amongst residents.
