Situated only 2 miles outside of Leeds City Centre, the commute to the city is both fast and efficient. Many bus routes run through Beeston, connecting residents to the centre and neighbouring suburbs. Cottingley train station is just 1 mile outside of Beeston and links to Leeds and Huddersfield hourly. If you’re planning to travel a little further afield, Leeds and Bradford International airport it just 13 miles away, whilst situated just off the M621, Beeston provides easy access to the motorway network.
Up until the 19th century Beeston was a small mining village situated on a hill overlooking Leeds. However, during the Industrial Revolution, land that was previously open pits was bought to build numerous residential developments. Beeston’s population soon grew, and what once was a quiet mining village, saw the addition of a railway station and a post office and soon became populated with families.
Eating & Drinking
Beeston is home to traditional pubs and good honest food, and Dolce Vita Craft Kitchen on Beeston Road is just that. With the ethos that food is love, serving good food and great coffee is at the heart of what they do. Park fisheries is another local favourite, dubbed the best fish and chips around, there is no better place to get your fix of the Great British favourite when in the area. Whether you want a quiet drink, or looking for some lively weekend entertainment, head to The Broadway or The Peacock, both perfectly positioned opposite the famous Elland Road Stadium.
There are plenty of places to get your groceries, or do a spot of retail therapy in Beeston. There are a good range of supermarkets within the area including Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi, Coop and Sainsburys. Beeston is also home to The White Rose Shopping Centre, a large indoor retail outlet with huge high street names such as Zara, Topshop and Debenhams, alongside a cinema complex and plenty of places to eat and drink.
