Things To Do

If you’re into walking Methley is the place for you! Lemonroyd Lake is situated just North of Methley and has two different walking routes, both taking around 2hrs to complete. If you want a more adventurous trail, Methley Circular is a great route for hiking, mountain biking and running.

If you’re looking to entertain children, Diggerland Yorkshire is just 3 miles away and Switherns Farm and Play Barn are just a short drive away in Rothwell.

Methley is conveniently located nearby the M62 connecting commuters to Leeds and Knottingley. Methley doesn’t have its own train station but is located within a 3-mile drive of both Castleford and Woodlesford stations, connecting the area to Leeds and York. Methley is also well connected with bus routes across South Leeds.


    Methley was once the site of a German POW camp during the Second World War and some of the hut foundations are still visible today.


    Eating & Drinking

    There are several cafes and pubs offering traditional food within Methley itself. If you’re wanting something a little fancier than pub grub and don't mind a short drive, Castleford hosts Vida, an Italian restaurant, serving well known dishes. For something different Restaurant Ruta serves up traditional Lithuanian meals!

    For easy meals, the village has a number of Chinese, kebab and fish and chip take aways.


    Methley has a range of small local shops; florist, a family owned clothing boutique, farm shops and a chandlery. If you’re wanting to splash some cash, Junction 32 is just a short 10-minute drive away in Castleford, where a range of well-known shops and eateries are situated. If you want to make a day of it, Leeds is just 12 minutes away via train.
